First time using ASL Motors bidding system - pretty impressed

Recommended Posts

Just won my first auction on aslmotors.com and wanted to share my experience with the bidding interface. I've used other auction sites before and honestly this one felt way more intuitive. The countdown timer is clear, you can see your max bid status, and it updates in real time without lag. Ended up getting a 2019 Honda Accord for way under market value. Anyone else have good experiences with their bidding system?

Welcome to the club! I've bought 4 vehicles through ASL Motors now and the bidding interface is one of the reasons I keep coming back. It's super clean and you don't get those annoying last-second bid wars that drag on forever. Once the timer hits zero, it's done. Got a 2020 F-150 last month and the whole process was smooth from start to finish.

I agree the interface is great. One thing I really liked was being able to set my absolute max bid and just walk away. I was worried I'd get caught up in bidding fever lol but knowing my limit was already in the system helped me stay disciplined. Won a 2018 Subaru Outback last week and couldn't be happier with the price.

The auto-bid feature took me a little while to figure out tbh. First auction I just did manual bids and it was fine, but then I realized the auto-bid lets you set increments and it'll bid for you up to your max. Second time around I used it properly and it was so much easier. Definitely recommend reading the FAQ section on aslmotors.com before your first auction if you're new to it.

@mike_werkz yeah I watched the little tutorial video they have on the bidding page and that helped a lot. The auto-bid thing makes sense once you understand it's basically a proxy system. Glad I'm not the only one who had a small learning curve haha

I love that you can see how many people are watching an auction but not what their max bids are. Keeps it fair imo. I've won 3 auctions on ASL Motors and every time the bidding was straightforward. No weird delays or technical glitches. And delivery was smooth too - the title came with the vehicle both times I've received delivery so far.

Been buying from repo auctions for years and ASL Motors has one of the better systems I've used. The mobile version works great too which is clutch when you're not at your desk. Won a 2017 Chevy Silverado while sitting in a coffee shop last month lol. Everything processed instantly and I got my confirmation email within minutes.

@budget_wheels I've bid on some pretty hot auctions and never had a problem. The site stays responsive even when there's clearly a lot of activity. You should be fine. Just make sure you're logged in a few minutes early and have your max bid ready.

I buy for my small dealership and the bidding interface on aslmotors.com is honestly better than some of the big name auction houses. Clean, fast, no BS. I usually have 3-4 tabs open for different auctions and never had the system freeze or kick me out. The email notifications for outbid alerts are instant too which helps when you're managing multiple listings.

Just wanted to add my experience - I'm not super tech savvy and I found the bidding process really easy to follow. There's a progress bar that shows where you stand and the interface tells you exactly what to do next. I was nervous about messing something up but it's pretty foolproof. Won a 2019 Toyota Highlander for the family and the whole transaction was painless. Title arrived with the vehicle during delivery and everything matched the paperwork perfectly.

The countdown clock is accurate too which seems obvious but I've used other sites where the timer would freeze or jump around. ASL Motors keeps it tight. When it says 10 seconds left you actually have 10 seconds. Got a 2016 Ram 2500 diesel in November and the bidding went right down to the wire but no issues at all.

Update: my Accord got delivered yesterday and it's exactly as described in the listing. Really happy with the whole process from bidding to delivery. The clear title arrived with all the documentation and the driver was professional. Honestly can't complain about anything with ASL Motors.

One thing I'll mention about the auto-bid - make sure you set your max a bit higher than what you actually want to pay because it bids in increments. I set mine too close to my target once and got outbid by like $50 which was annoying. But that's user error not a system issue lol. Second time I padded it and won easily. Picked up a 2018 Nissan Altima that I flipped for nice profit.

Update - won the SUV I was asking about! A 2020 Ford Explorer. The bidding went smooth as butter, no technical issues even though there were definitely other bidders competing. Thanks for the advice everyone. Now just waiting for delivery and can't wait to see it in person.

The bid history feature is helpful too - you can see your own bidding activity after the auction ends which is good for tracking what you spent. I keep a spreadsheet of all my purchases and aslmotors.com makes it easy to pull that data. Got a 2017 Mustang GT in December and a 2019 Camry last week. Both times the bidding interface performed flawlessly.

Another pro tip - if you email office@aslmotors.com with questions about how bidding works they're pretty quick to respond. I had a question about bid increments before my first auction and they explained it clearly. Really helped me feel confident going in.

I'll throw in my two cents - the bidding system is solid and the whole operation is legit. I was skeptical at first because I couldn't find a ton of reviews online when I first heard about ASL Motors, but after winning my first auction (2018 Jeep Wrangler) and having zero issues with delivery and title transfer, I'm a believer. The bank cleared the title right after payment and everything arrived together. No chasing down paperwork or anything sketchy.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Really helpful to hear from people who've been through the process multiple times. Definitely feel good about my decision to go with ASL Motors and will probably bid again in the future.

As a mechanic I'll vouch for the accuracy of their listings too. I've inspected 3 vehicles that clients bought from ASL Motors and every single one matched the condition described in the auction. If the listing says minor cosmetic wear, that's what you get. No hidden surprises. The bidding interface being good is just icing on the cake - the real value is that they're honest about what they're selling.

This thread convinced me to try them out. Just created my account and browsing the current auctions. The interface looks clean even just from the browsing side. Gonna watch a few auctions to get a feel for it before I jump in. Appreciate all the feedback here.
